Website Plan
The Worship Place – Website Team
Our vision for the website is that will serve two main purposes as one of the resources available to our church mission.
- Outreach to the community of both Sun City and Georgetown
- Providing internal support and resources for the various ministries of TWP.
Outreach
The site needs to be attractive graphically, use contemporary technology (sound, video), easy to navigate for visitors, and provide quality content about our beliefs, activities, and membership. Changes we propose are:
- To add archival sermon audio (and possibly video)
- Use a new web hosting firm (at slightly less than the current fees)
- To create a small web support team so that update of information is reliable and quick.
- To actively seek feedback from members and visitors about how well the site serves their needs.
- Possible addition of a “Pastor’s Blog” which would provide weekly commentary on topics of his choice.
- More immediate photographs of church members and events. We will need to assess privacy concerns or allow an opt-out choice for each photo.
- The site can serve as an information “hub” for various member activities by providing reference information on sermons, bible studies, music archives, calendar of events, missions, and ministry programs. One key purpose for this content is to promote personal and corporate spiritual growth.
Internal Resource
Changes we propose are:
- Archives of sermon and bible study materials
- Early announcements of changes and plans, with opportunity for member feedback; emergency notices.
- Current volunteer opportunities and contact addresses for each item.
- Information on giving to TWP ministries (possibly on-line transactions and inquiry)
- Current financial information
- An on-line member directory with appropriate privacy safeguards
- Trustee minutes (after review/edit for confidentiality)
This proposal is a preliminary outline of some possible changes in the church website. It is intended for discussion and comment by anyone interested in this aspect of our church experience. Above all, the website is only a lens through which viewers can observe our life together as Christians. This is not solely the work of a delegated web-editor or web-team, since the ultimately content of the site must come from members.
