Ministries
The Worship Place activities are accomplished through various Ministries, each of which is overseen by a Trustee of the Board. Contact the chairperson of a Ministry if you would like to participate.
Benevolence Ministry Chairperson: Jill Gray Serve the congregation of The Worship Place in the allocation of funds, for the greatest benefit to benevolent and missionary causes, in accordance with Scriptural principles concerning assistance to the needy and promotion of the Christian faith.
Building Ministry Chairperson: Fletcher Wright See to the maintenance and adequacy of the Church Building, equipment, fixtures, furniture and appurtenances, and keep same in good repair. The members oversee building preparation for worship, purchase and maintain supplies, track maintenance requests, and supervise cleaning services.
Caring Ministry Chairperson: Lou Gibson Provide care for those in need with prayer, attention, and food service as appropriate. The Caring Ministry includes the Prayer, Meals, and Care and Serve Sub-ministries.
Congregational Ministry Chairperson: Lee Snyder Reach out to the congregation and provide varied miscellaneous services required for the Church to function. Members handle mail outs and telephone calls to members, handle contacts with news media, maintain the Church Web Site, maintain Church Historical information, provide coffee and refreshments on the third Sunday of each month, provide for special events such as pot luck suppers, bus trips, etc., and compile and produce the quarterly news letter. Members of the AudioVisual Committee monitor and maintain the Church sound and visual systems for the benefit of the members. The members test and operate audio/visual equipment during church functions.
Christian Education Ministry Chairperson: Elaine Ferguson The Worship Place Bible Studies nurture and educate members in the Christian faith and promote Christian growth. The members prepare study plans and lead Bible Study presentations.
Encouragers Ministry Chairperson: Bo Wickstrom Work closely with the Pastor in co-ordinating visits to our home-bound members who may be in need of encouragement. Members visit the ill, lonely, bereaved, etc. sharing Christian love, advise Pastor of individuals who wish his personal attention, and meet monthly with Pastor for prayer and sharing
Finance Ministry Treasurer & Chairperson: Barbara Hallmark Asst. Chair: Mike Bailey Oversee all financial affairs of the Church and plan for anticipated future needs. Members maintain Church cash accounts, invest excess fund, pay approved obligations, maintain insurance coverage, maintain membership and participation lists, provide annual reporting to the membership, and educate congregation regarding Church fiscal matters. They also prepare monthly and annual budget reports and secure annual financial review by an independent accounting firm.
Landscape and Grounds Ministry Chairperson: Charles Heald Monitor and care for the Church grounds, landscaping and improvements outside of the main Church Building. Members maintain church plantings, irrigation system, parking areas, retention ponds, signs, lighting, walkways, benches, etc. They arrange and monitor maintenance contractors.
Memorials & Fine Arts Ministry Chairperson: Elaine Ferguson Acknowledge memorial gifts received by the Church. Review and recommend appropriate proposed non-monetary gifts to the Trustees for approval. Members maintain the Memorial Register, acknowledge donors, notify family that gift has been received in memory or honor, review and recommend proposed gifts.
Worship Ministry Chairperson: Fred Owen Monitor and see to the staffing of the church service. Insure that adequate Users and Greeters are available for our church service. Supervise and monitor the church Altar and Flower arrangements. Arrange for the Easter and Christmas decorations at the church. Support the Reception Desk in providing information relating to the church and its members. Oversee the preparation of Communion service at monthly worship service. Assist with matters relating to the church Music program. Other miscellaneous church services provided by this Ministry include: name badges, church recipe book and serving meals to local fire fighters and EMS personnel on September 11
