Your Stories – March 2010
Mar 2nd, 2010 | By Dave | Category: HayWiresOn Sunday evening, February 28, Ann and I hosted a new member coffee. A number of very willing Worship Place members helped provide refreshments to more than 35 people new to our church. Our gratitude goes to all who helped and to all who attended! It really felt good to have people in our home and realize that after these four months at Sun City, we can participate as residents.
As I reflect upon that evening, I am humbled by the wonderful people God has assembled in this place. Those of you who have remained faithful for so many years are now reaching out to new lives and embracing them as they join with us. I am continually amazed by the spiritual gifts and innate talents of this congregation. You are gracious to serve and to share your time with our church and with our community. The Worship Place is making a difference in Sun City – and will continue to do so as we follow God’s leadership in our daily lives.
Both Ann and I reveled in the sight of new members’ fellowshipping together over cookies and coffee, mixing and talking – sharing their life stories and finding common interests. After about thirty minutes, I quieted the talking and gave each person a chance to tell a bit about their background. It was clear that meaningful connections had been made by Christian people in a time of Christian fellowship.
Whether you are a long time member or one who has just begun to attend The Worship Place, I urge you to pray about finding God’s direction for your life. New opportunities for service arise almost weekly, and one might be just right for you. As we give of ourselves, God has a way of replenishing us beyond measure. Serving others out of love is “Geritol” for Christ followers. It’s what He did and what He taught His disciples to do.
On the first Sunday in March, I will begin a series of sermons on biblical faith stories. I hope these sermons will prepare you for the Easter season and renew your own faith in God. In conjunction with this series, we will be making available to the congregation a collection of faith stories submitted by members of The Worship Place. It will be called “This Is My Story.”
The truth is that each of us has a story. And we add new chapters each day of our lives. What will be the next chapter in your story of walking with God? Is Jesus a vital part of your story? He wants to be.
