Meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 1-5 PM
Almost all of the items we make are made from donated yarn and fabric. Each person decides what they would like to do. They get the supplies they need and go to work. Many love to stay and visit as they work. Others take materials home to work on. Several have learned to use the round looms to make caps or beanies for adults and children. If a person wants to learn to knit or crochet, there is always someone who will teach them. Many have revived skills they had in the past and are enjoying them again. Some set up sewing machines and make pillowcases or bags. In addition, we have a table or two of those who meet to play Mexican Train or some other game. They have a ball. Everyone is welcome. A person can just come on Tuesdays and visit if they want to!
Texas Baptist Children’s Home
For this group we have made large tote bags and small snap bags (cosmetic bags). We donated toiletry items, which were donated by members of the congregation, such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes, lotions and soaps.
Blue Santa, Brown Santa and Red Santa
To all these groups we make and donate (for adults and children) caps, scarves, ponchos, cowl scarves, bracelets and snap bags. We also gave them stuffed animals which were donated by members of the congregation.
Homeless of Austin
To this group we make and donate scarves, caps and fingerless gloves.
Christ Child Society
We make and donate baby hats and blankets for this group.
Dell Children’s Hospital and St. David’s Hospital
We make and donate caps for cancer patients, children and adults.
We make pillow cases from bright-colored, fun-themed fabric to donate to this group. The pillow cases are distributed to hospitals, such as Dell Children’s Hospital, to children in treatment for cancer.
Crestview Baptist Church
We make weighted blankets which are distributed by Crestview to families who have children with sensory disabilities and special needs children.
We have donated some bags and handmade jewelry to them. There is a small group of ladies that goes to The Nest once per month with all the supplies to teach middle school and high school students to make jewelry, which they keep.
TWP Visitation Team
We make afghans and shawls which the team gives to people they visit in the hospital, nursing homes and homes.
This year we will wrap shoeboxes in Christmas paper prior to the beginning of the project later in the year. We will also make caps for the children which will be placed in the boxes before they are picked up by members of the congregation.
Check out a few of the videos about the Tuesday Fellowship and some of the incredible projects they have worked on.
